UIP Team Initiates Support for Hurricane Ian Relief Efforts

December 1, 2022
At the November All-Employee Meeting, we discussed the critical support provided by Koppers Utility & Industrial Products team following the devastation of Hurricane Ian in Florida.
As part of their storm response efforts, the UIP team provided 5,000 poles to the Lee County Electric Cooperative, and 5,400 poles and 4,000 crossarms to Florida Power & Light.
Though the hurricane hit in late September of this year, the efforts to rebuild are far from complete. A preliminary estimate by the National Weather Service placed building damage at $6.8 billion and overall, more than 2.4 million people in Florida lost power during the storm and in its aftermath. Hurricane Ian is estimated to have left behind nearly 31 million cubic yards of disaster debris, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
Thank you to our UIP team for your dedication to working through even the most challenging conditions to support your customers and communities in need.
