Volunteerism

Supporting Future Scientists in Chicago

March 5, 2026
Team members from the Stickney, Illinois, plant engineering department recently volunteered as judges for the Chicago Public Schools Student Science Exhibition. 🔬
During the event, 7th and 8th grade students compete in their local schools for a chance to bring their projects to the city-wide competition, held at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. Projects ranged from chemistry and physics to engineering and behavioral science, and were judged on criteria such as their scientific acumen, originality of the project, and background research on their topic. The judges provided thoughtful feedback to help students reflect on their research and ideas.
Thank you to Nora Seidmain (Plant Engineering Manager), Bob Michalowski (Process Engineering Manager), Kurt Renner (Process Engineer), and Joe Elliott (Mechanical Engineer) for participating and celebrating Chicago Public Schools student research. 👏
