Pittsburgh Employees Represent Koppers IT Excellence at the CIO Awards!

On April 18th, employees from Koppers Pittsburgh IT team attended the CIO (Chief Information Officer) of the Year Awards through Pittsburgh Technology Council. 🏆🌐
CIO of the Year is an annual event that recognizes and honors the accomplishments of Southwestern PA's most hardworking CIOs, CISOs, Tech Trailblazers, and Rising Stars.
This year, there were seven different categories of finalists from companies of all sizes, non-profits, and government/higher education institutions, with an individual award for each category.
Four Koppers employees were recognized for their achievements:
1. Brian Stein: Rising Star Finalist
Brian has worked at Koppers for three years and currently leads the digital transformation team at Koppers where he is involved in project inception, requirements elicitation, design, solution implementation and support and monitoring.
2. Frank Pascoe: Tech Trailblazer Finalist
In his 44 years at Koppers, Frank started as a process control engineer and then switched to the IT department, where he learned a lot about networking and server management. He is now developing the foundational elements for Industry 4.0 and AI applications and is dedicated to using technology to improve efficiency, quality, and safety of our operations.
3. Pete Zwieryznski: CISO – Terabyte Finalist
In his time at Koppers, Pete has led numerous global initiatives and created and maintained strategic partnerships in his ongoing efforts to ensure the resiliency and continuity of the business as it navigates through the ever-changing cyber threat landscape.
4. Tushar Lovalekar: CIO – Gigabyte WINNER!
As Vice President of global IT operations and a member of the Leadership Council at Koppers, Tushar uses his 25 years of IT-related experiences to develop a digital strategy focused on innovation and emerging technologies. Under Tushar’s guidance, Koppers IT department launched a Digital Transformation program about 18 months back and have since successfully implemented 40+ projects using various emerging technologies.
