Koppers Railroad Structures Headquarters Honored with Safety Award!

Recently, the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin awarded Koppers Railroad Structures (KRS) Headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin, with the Safety Award of Excellence! 🏆

This award was presented at the ABC of Wisconsin’s annual conference, SuperCon, where the group recognizes hundreds of members for their commitment to safety. The most impressive awards are the Safety Awards of Excellence, which are presented to one member in each of the three categories: Small Contractor, Mid-Size Contractor, and Large Contractor.

To qualify for the Safety Award of Excellence, groups must have incident rates for total OSHA recordables and lost workday cases that are at least 25% better than the industry average. Qualifiers must also have a model safety record that includes:
- Zero OSHA recordables in 2023
- Significant number of leading indicators (observations, hazards/controls reported, inspections, pre-task planning briefings, and project start-up safety reviews)
- Strong focus on safety field leadership, safety culture/behavior, and safety processes and results.
