| Suggestions for the Designer |
- Heavy winds may blow loose aggregate off the roof. In high wind areas perimeter parapet wall design should be considered.
- When flashings are anticipated to have ponding water at their base, Koppers recommends the use of a low profile tapered cant, 12" to 24" (305 to 610mm) long, placed beneath the regular cant prior to the application of the roofing system.
- Re-entry corners in building construction are points of high stress and this includes such conditions on roof tops. To help counteract potential damage from these high stress points, a polyester felt or woven glass fabric should be incorporated in the roof system design. See Flashing Specifications, for suggested high stress reinforcement.
- Koppers does not warrant lightning protection, antennas, HVAC units, framework or supports for signs, piping, conduit, walkways, sprinkler systems or other non-Koppers supplied roof-top equipment or damage caused by their installation. However, the design for installation of this equipment shall conform to Koppers requirements and good roofing practice. When it is not possible to locate the above items on parapet walls, or off the roofing membrane surface, these items shall be placed on protection pads or pipe supports to keep the cables from sinking into the surfacing and making contact with the membrane felts. (See Traffic Pad Detail B.12) Such design is permissible when it does not interfere with proper functioning of the roofing systems.
