Flashing
The same material used for the field of the roof is used for flashing walls, metal edges and penetrations. Cut flashing pieces into easy to handle sections ahead of time. A desirable height for flashing is a minimum of 8" (203mm) above the grade line of the roof. Unless flashing is designed to completely cover the wall, suitable metal counterflashings shall be utilized covering the base flashing a minimum of 4" (102mm). All flashing must have a termination bar. Base flashing must extend 4-6" (102mm-152mm) onto the field of the roof and a minimum of 8" (203mm) above the membrane on the vertical surface.

Smooth surface material must be used as the base flashing for mineral surfaced flashing systems.

It is recommended that all modified flashings be installed in accordance with the application procedures found in our Specification Manual. It is recommended that all laps and edges of flashing be heat welded with a propane torch or heatgun and buttered with a rounded trowel even when the field is installed with hot asphalt.

NOTE: Complete application details and specifications for flashing and membrane types are available in Koppers System 2000 Roof Specification Manual. This manual is available by contacting your Koppers representative.
