Koppers

Koppers Florence facility is a 210-acre site that has been an active wood treating and preserving plant since 1946. Currently employing 82 individuals, the Florence facility produces crossties, switch ties, bridge material, and preplated crossties as well as utility poles and piling. The crosstie treatment includes P-2 creosote and the newest addition, borate dual treatment. The utility pol and piling operation preservatives include pentachlorophenol, copper chromium arsenic (CCA) and emulsion treatment (ET).
