Koppers Inc. Employee Dies in Rail Accident at North Little Rock Plant
Company, local and federal authorities are investigating the incident
PITTSBURGH, November 11, 2004 – An employee of the Koppers Inc. wood treating plant in North Little Rock, Ark. died today during routing of railroad cars within the plant.
Koppers CEO and President Walter W. Turner said the company is investigating the incident in conjunction with local and federal authorities, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
“All of us at Koppers are deeply saddened by the loss of a friend and colleague,” Turner said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as we investigate this incident and determine the facts.”
Koppers is withholding the identity of the employee until next of kin have been notified. More information on the accident will be shared as the investigation progresses.
