Koppers Honored as a Major
Donor at Pentagon Ceremony Ceremony to Recognize Companies That Have
Contributed to the Pentagon Reroofing Project
June 24, 2002, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — In
1943, the newly built Pentagon Building, in Washington, D.C. was
designed with a coal tar roof, one of the strongest and most durable
roofing solutions available. Nearly 60 years later, Koppers has
donated 40,000 square feet of coal tar materials to reconstruct
that roof, which was destroyed during the September 11 terrorist
attacks.
On June 25, 2002, Koppers will join other major
donors in Washington D.C. to be thanked by the National Roofing
Contractors
Association
(NRCA) and the government. The NRCA Pentagon Project started
in October 2001, as members of the roofing industry banded together
with donations and volunteer labor to replace the Pentagon's
damaged
roof system.
