Koppers Appoints Steven
R. Lacy as New General Counsel
July 12, 2001, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — Koppers
announced today that Steven R. Lacy has joined the company as vice
president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Effective July
16, Lacy will have overall responsibility for the legal affairs
of Koppers, and report directly to Walter W. Turner, president
and chief executive officer.
Lacy brings to Koppers a strong legal
background, and extensive and pertinent business experience. He
has more than 17 years experience
in the steel industry and most recently served as vice president,
general counsel and corporate secretary for Wheeling-Pittsburgh
Steel Corp. He had been with Wheeling-Pittsburgh since 1998.

Prior to
his employment at Wheeling-Pittsburgh, Lacy was assistant general
counsel at Lukens Inc., with responsibility for that company's
three steel subsidiaries. He is a graduate of Drake University
and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University.
He lives with his wife and two children in Venetia, Pa.
Koppers

wood products for use in a variety of markets including
the railroad, aluminum, chemical and steel industries. The
Company operates 39 facilities with locations in the United States,
the
South Pacific (primarily Australia and New Zealand), Europe
