Koppers Appoints Steve
Lish as Plant Manager of the
Clairton, PA Carbon Materials and
Chemical Plant
July 12, 2000, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — Koppers,
a globally integrated producer of carbon compounds and treated
wood products headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pa., announced the promotion
of Steve Lish as plant manager of the Clairton, Pa., Carbon Material
and Chemical Plant (CM&C) effective May 1, 2000.
Lish's responsibilities
now include the daily operations of the tar plant with primary
emphasis on Safety, Health and Environmental
(SH&E) compliance, financial and production performance and
training and development of all employees.
Prior to his recent
promotion, Lish served as manager of the SH&E
for the Clairton, Pa. and Follansbee, W.Va., plants. He started
his career with Koppers 11 years ago at the Follansbee, W.Va. plant
as environmental and safety director.
Lish holds a Bachelor of
Science degree in Biology from West Liberty State College and
an MBA from Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Lish is a member of the Board of Directors for the Clairton Chamber
of Commerce and the West Virginia Manufacturing Association.
He resides in Coraopolis, Pa.
Koppers is a global integrated producer
of carbon compounds and treated wood products for use in a variety
of markets, including
the railroad, aluminum, chemical and steel industries. The Company
operates 39 facilities in the United States, Australia, New Zealand,
the South Pacific (primarily Australia and New Zealand), Denmark
and the United Kingdom. The Company also maintains an indirect
ownership interest in a concrete rail tie facility in the United
States through its domestic joint venture KSA. Additionally, in
March 1999 the Company entered into a joint venture agreement with
Tangshan Iron & Steel Co. ("TISCO") to operate a
tar distillation facility in China; that joint venture is 60% owned
by the Company. The Company's stock is shared by a large number
of management investors and by majority equity owner, Saratoga
Partners of New York City.
