Koppers offers three types of roof insulation — KOP-R, Perlite,
and Regular and High Density Fiberboard Roof Insulation — specifically
recommended for hot asphalt or coal tar BUR and modified bitumen
membrane systems.
Koppers KOP-R Roof Insulation features a closed-cell
polyisocyanurate core integrally laminated to fiber-reinforced
felt-facers.
Perlite rigid mineral aggregate
insulation board is composed of expanded perlite, cellulose binders,
and waterproofing agents. Its tough top surface is treated to retain
bitumen for a tight bond with the membrane.
Fiberboard Insulation is manufactured
to a uniform density using cellulosic wood fibers with additives
to improve strength and moisture resistance. Each panel is surface
treated with a black sealer to promote adherence of the roofing
membrane.
KOP-R Roof Insulation is remarkably tough but
easy to handle and install. The facers are integrally laminated
to the rigid polyisocyanurate foam core, giving each board superior
dimensional stability and making it simple to cut with a standard
roofer’s knife.
KOP-R Roof Insulation is also extremely lightweight,
making it easier to handle, enhancing overall job productivity,
when insulating efficiency is required. Also, its construction
gives it the superior strength required for roofing applications.
Perlite Roof Insulation has
a tough, heavy top surface that retains bitumen to tightly bond
the membrane. It has the most cost-effective thermal performance
for moderate R-value and is performance proven for more than 30
years.
Regular and High Density Fiberboard Roof
Insulation has strong resistance to traffic. It will
withstand normal deck traffic during and after membrane application
and provides added rigidity to foam insulation and the entire
roof deck. It can be used as a recovery board over the existing
roof membrane prior to re-roofing or as a protective cover over
insulation to prevent damage.
