Overview
The coal tar distillation process results in the creation of a variety of products. The major product is carbon pitch used in the aluminum and steel industries. The further refining of coke oven tars produces a variety of tars and coal tar sidestreams . These products are processed to various specifications and are supplied as raw materials to independent manufacturers for a wide range of end use applications such as disinfectants, herbicides, dyestuffs, road making, polystyrene and nylon.
