Scunthorpe Works

The crude tar processing facility has been in existence at the Scunthorpe site since 1928 and is located close to the town centre and Corus steel making plants. A new tar distillation unit was built in 1992 which has a capacity of 90,000 tonnes/annum and produces various grades of petroleum and coal tar pitches for the electrode, carbon and clay pigeon markets. Fractionated oils are separated for further blending processes or despatched as product sales. A range of speciality blended EVT tars and pitches are manufactured to precise specification for use worldwide in the protective coating industry.
